Supporting Teens Through a Difficult and Important Stage of Life
Being a teenager isn't always easy.
Teens are navigating school, friendships, family relationships, expectations, and changes in who they are becoming. Sometimes they may not know how to explain what they are going through—or they may not feel comfortable talking to the people closest to them.
Therapy can provide a space where teens can feel heard without being judged.
I work with teenagers experiencing concerns such as:
Anxiety and excessive worries
Depression or low mood
School stress
Friendship and relationship difficulties
Family conflict
Low self-esteem
Difficulty managing emotions
Life transitions
Trauma
Identity and personal challenges
A Space to Be Heard
I believe it is important for teenagers to have a space where they can be themselves and talk about what matters to them.
Some teens may come into therapy ready to talk, while others may need more time. Both are okay.
My goal is not to force a teenager to open up. Instead, I work to build a relationship where they can gradually feel safe enough to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Supporting Both Teens and Parents
Parents are often an important part of a teenager's support system. At the same time, teenagers also need a sense of privacy and independence.
I work to balance both by supporting teens while helping parents better understand what their teenager may be going through.
If you're worried about your teenager
You may notice changes in your teen but aren't sure how to help. You don't have to figure it out alone.
